Sobbing over how Epic is over now.
Bro, Penelope and Odysseus are SOULMATES and how she reassured him of her love. That "I love you" hit me in the centre of my soul.
If the concept album is over, does that mean in the future we'll get an actual broadway show? Cause I will buy tickets in a heartbeat.
Best musical ever, honestly cannot believe how MUCH it has beaten all the others in my heart.
Jorge you absolute legend, please make more bangers to consume me.
But can I talk about how hyped I was for the suitors song, how Odysseus really blended in like all James Bond and leapt at the last moment omg i screamed lowkey in excitement when he struck.
Penelope got her solo song and she ate, left no crumbs man. Shes so cool, man I aspire. Cunning af, glad no one snitched on her like in the odyssey.
And the final song killed me, in 75000 differwnt ways, all with varying degrees of awe, sadness, feeling moved and touched, happiness, bittersweetness.
I love how the songs and background noises and stuff showed what was going on.
Never gonna recover from this, even after 7-8 business days.
Theres so much i love, i forgot to mention how the implemention of "waiting~" and just a man hurt me so much. Out of nowhere, just uppercutting me while im already down on my feels.
I love how Jorge implements past songs so much, its amazing. Talented frfr

My favorite moments from the Epic: The Musical Ithaca Saga Premiere Livestream (in no particular order):
Armando and Jay doing the macarena during Luck Runs Out
Also during Luck Runs Out when Odysseus says "let me pull you aside then I need to talk to you in private" and Jay pulled Armando to the side of the room in a very silly flirty manner and then immediately pretended to smack the shit out of him
Talya and Jay swapping lip sync roles during There Are Other Ways
Troy standing on the table and twerking during Dangerous
Everyone pretending to row during Full Speed Ahead
Luke acting like the cyclops during the cyclops saga, and reprising the role during Circe and Odysseus' fight in Done For
Mason and Jay ballroom dancing during No Longer You
Jay and his mom swaying together during Anticlea's part of The Underworld
Jay's dad messing up lip syncing Hephaestus' part of God Games and laughing about it
During Legendary, Mico is clearly on screen lip syncing as Telemachus but Jay keeps typing in chat "Where's Mico?" And "Mico it sucks we couldn't get you here"
Jay trying to hold Mico in his lap during Just A Man
Steven Rodriguez' cast message between the showing of the Vengeance Saga and the Ithaca Saga
Jay wearing ten billion pairs of glasses during Just a Man and then later in chat saying that whenever he wears glasses that means he's being serious (so obviously we can interpret that Just a Man was super serious)
During Get In the Water Mason kept trying to hand Jay a tiny fork clearly trying to mime Poseidon's trident but then it also seemed like he hadn't actually watched the Six Hundred Strike animatic before because he never ended up handing the fork to Jay and his jaw dropped when Odysseus started stabbing Poseidon, at which point Jay picked up Mason's tiny fork off the table and mimed stabbing Poseidon, much to Mason's amusement
KJ jumping around on and crawling over the couch attacking random people with pillows during Scylla
So many viewers spamming the chat with pancake emojis during Survive
Mason pretending to turn into a pig during Puppeteer
Luke pretending to be the magical boar during Warrior of the Mind
JP pretending to be the cow during Mutiny
The grocery bag that they filled with air and tied up and threw around as "the wind bag" during Keep Your Friends Close and Dangerous
Jay and Luke actually pretending to game as Telemachus and Antinous during Little Wolf with what seemed to be switch controllers
The cast using one of said switch controllers as a stand in for the baby in The Horse and The Infant
Everyone applauding at the end of Charybdis when Odysseus is singing "Penelope" but then going "wait wait" and freaking out when Odysseus starts going backwards. Then Get in the Water started and Poseidon said "There you are. Coward." and Jay yelled "IT'S STEVEN!!!!!" and everyone cheered
Jay just absolutely tackling Mico in a hug at the climax of I Can't Help But Wonder
The entire cast trying to be excited and hyped at the end of the stream while saying goodbye/thank you but all of them had been crying/sobbing through the last two beautiful songs so they all just were wiping their eyes and noses and some of them just could not pull it together enough to look at the camera (looking at Luke Holt and Earle Gresham Jr. affectionately) so it was a very emotional excited goodbye

➸ Nobody vs. the G.O.G.; Poseidon × S/O
Characters: Poseidon A/N: This is kind of a re-write of my old piece of the Reader being Odysseus' ancestor. I remembered that I wrote it a while ago, and in honor of the next saga of the Epic musical, I decided to redo it for fun! Anyways, have fun reading! ➥ Summary: What happens when two long-time rivals end up meeting again due to one similar relationship? Something entertaining for poor you, that's for sure.
DISCLAIMER: THIS CONTAINS QUITE A BIT OF VIOLENCE AT THE START. READER'S DISCRETION ADVISED THERE.

╚═════ Poseidon ══════════════════════════════╝
🔱 It was years, centuries ago, that a human and goddess had a child. An accident was what the Gods called it as they reassured the female, whom had left the baby with its father
🔱 The Goddess had to observe her child's life, aging underneath the tyrannical hand of the man who made up half of them. She sobbed nearly every night in the arms of her fellow Gods, and they had to reassure every night that it had to be this way. As a human could never live among the Gods
🔱 While the child's mother watched, they grew, married, had children, and that happened multiple times before she began to leave the next generations to themselves. The Goddess did come back. And her current descendant, Laertes, smiled as his newborn son was handed to him
🔱 Unbeknownst to them, the baby's ancestor would check on him almost daily, floating above him on a cloud. She held her hand out to the young Odysseus and he giggled as he grabbed her finger, a steam-like print being engraved into her skin
🔱 She smiled and sung to him the song that her father would sing to her whenever she was homesick. Memories flashed of the giant male hugging her and humming while her mother just coughed sickly and laid on his shoulder. Perhaps this song could make better memories with this young man?
🔱 Odysseus aged tremendously in the Goddess' eyes. He had the most beautiful dark hair she saw, and his eyes always made her proud to see the glimmer of life in them. Especially when he met his wife and they had his son
🔱 As he sailed off to fight against Troy, his ancestor stayed around his family. She transformed into a beautiful phoenix, with her wings and body being whiter than the clouds and the fire affect resembling the fluffy-structures in the sky
🔱 The bird would fly by every day, making sure the mother and son were safe from the suitors. One day, she went to far in protecting them to lure one out of the castle, grab him by the neck, and tell him to warn his fellow suitors that;
"If thou dare lay one hand on Penelope or Telemachus, I shall lay waste thee and thy fellow suitors. Now leave. Say to the others of this warning."
"Yes, Goddess of the Ocean's Storms and wife of Poseidon, God of the Sea. This warning shall be told to mine fellow suitors. I just pray to be spared from thy rage." He replied, a pathetic tone coming out and not the overconfident one from before.
"Go. Thou hast received the mercy of a goddess. 'I return, I expect a sacrifice of four suitors by the end of this week. Understood, mortal?"
"Merely, goddess of the ocean's storms. Thou hast mine word to mere thy crave 'i exchange."
🔱 The suitor ran off in fear. But, despite the warning from him, the men just laughed, calling him crazy for swearing that a Goddess such as that to visit him for such a petty reason
🔱 The next day, he was found with a trident stabbed through his chest.
🔱 It was months that the woman watched, not intervening, despite the wish to do so. She had been held back by her close friend, Aphrodite. Much to her despair. She wanted those suitors to be torn piece by piece until the other way to recognize them was from their torn-out eyeballs
🔱 A smile crossed the Goddess' face as she watched Athena protest against her father, Zeus. Her words made sense. After all, she did know this boy the best out of them all. Well, other than you that is
══✿══╡
🔱 You smiled as you intertwined your arm with Poseidon's. You both were your way to visit a certain young man who had delivered a letter to your doorstep. It was the young Telemachus of Ithaca, the son of former King and Queen Odysseus and Penelope
🔱 Poseidon's blank stare remained as you pet the head of a cute dog, his long snout's darker tone contrasting with the pink-colored tongue he used to lick you
"What a sweetheart, right, Poseidon?"
🔱 He looked away before nodding. It was hardly noticeable to most, but after living with him for a few centuries, you get used to his small signs
🔱 You stood as you heard your name get called. The smile on your face grew largely as you saw the young man come running out, his arms wide for you to hug him. He wrapped them around your shoulders and you laughed at the actions
"Telemachus. You act as if you haven't aged since you were a young 20-year-old! It's impressive you're over 100 now!" You joked.
🔱 Telemachus smiled and laughed. He then looked behind you and saw Poseidon, his eyes slightly widening as he caught sight of the God. The same God his father told him so many scary stories about ever since he returned home
"L-Lord Poseidon." He said.
🔱 Poseidon let out a breath as you rolled your eyes and asked Telemachus where his parents were. He looked back at you and nervously chuckled before motioning for you both to follow him inside of his home
"Mom's most likely observing some of the birds in the garden. My dad's probably training his men in the fields. You know him..."
"Do I ever."
🔱 Telemachus and you two stopped in a living room. It had many piece of furniture that was a mixture of Ancient Greek and modern-times. He told you guys you could sit down as he gathered his parents to see you both
🔱 You smiled and looked at Poseidon. He just stared off at the nearby ocean, probably thinking out everything he had to finish once you two returned home. Before he or you knew it, Telemachus came back in with his mother being dragged by her arm, a laugh coming from her as it happened
"Penelope. It's so lovely to see you again!" You said, embracing the woman like how you did her son.
"The same goes for me. You haven't aged a year! You must teach me your secrets." She joked.
"Penelope, what's going on?" A new voice said.
🔱 Looking up, you saw another male walk into the room. He had long, near-black hair, and a lightly-grown beard. Your eyes lit up when they met his, memories flashing in your head as you practically ran up to hug the man
🔱 Poseidon glanced up and stood up firmly, slamming his trident into the ground as he remembered the guy. This was the one man he hated more than anyone
"Odysseus of Ithaca."
🔱 Odysseus slightly jumped and looked up from your shoulder. Seeing the God of the Seas there, he pulled your behind him, unsheathing his sword to keep his family safe from the heartless man
"Poseidon. What are you doing here? We settled our issues years ago."
"No! No! No, Odysseus, I brought him here to meet you guys. Wait. How do you two know each other?"
"It's a long story..." Odysseus mumbled.
"One that I would be lucky to be recanted on." You said sternly.
"Well..."
"Polyphemus. He went blind because of this mortal."
"Huh? I thought- you stabbed him?!"
"Uh..."
"Okay, let's start from the top."
══✿══╡
🔱 You looked down at the ground with a facial expression that made Odysseus and Poseidon look away slightly. You weren't glaring, but you weren't even close to smiling either
"Let me make sure this is all clear. Odysseus, you fought in Troy, left, got stuck at an island trying to find food. Then you tried eating Polyphemus' sheep, and after he killed multiple of your men, you blinded him. Then you opened a bag from Aeolus after Poseidon came around, started and storm and fled, got stuck with Circe, went to the Underworld, dealt with sirens, Scylla, and Zeus. And then you had to deal with Calypso, and eventually had to deal with Poseidon once again."
"Yeah..."
"And Poseidon. You heard Polyphemus' cries for you, came and found out everything. And, using the information and name that Odysseus' blurted out in a ego-boosted stupor, found him, and drowned most of his men. You then proceeded to threaten Penelope, Telemachus, and the entirety of Ithaca with drowning?"
🔱 Poseidon nodded in a reply as you sighed and rubbed your temples
"Well... this has become much more of a difficult meeting than I hoped it would've been."
"You're telling me..." Telemachus said.

Telemachus immediately regrets interfering with the suitors. Athena told him that the suitors were getting slain and he foolishly decided to help. Well, now he's running for his life away from the sea of suitors. 'WHY DID YOU DO THIS, YOU IDIOT?!' He mentally screams to himself. He can hear the blood-curdling screams of suitors getting slain and stabbed. He runs and runs, but stops and starts to fight back. After a while, he realizes he's really outnumbered and he hears one of the suitors say he's the biggest target and trigger, so now he's full-on sprinting. Suddenly, he's grabbed by the wrist, making him drop his sword. He's lifted off his feet and feels his body get slashed once on the leg. "WE GOT HIM!" The suitor shouts. But when Antinout goes in for another blow...
Someone stops it. Antinus looks over and sees... Y/n? "so you recognize me," I say, "Of course I do", Antinout says, "You're the most beautiful girl here... and you're mine!", "I will NEVER be yours" "Don't give me that you wench! I'll have you whether you want me to or not!" Telemachus' expression darkens, clenching his teeth at Antinout calling y/n a wench. "Now give me a kiss so I can see your beautiful lips" Antinout tries to kiss y/n, but she grabs his knife from his belt and stabs him. "AHHH! YOU LITTLE WENCH, YOU'LL PAY!" Then someone else showed up...Telemachus' eyes widened at the sight of his father and he watched as he slaughtered all the suitors one by one. "Father", Telemachus says with a shaky voice, "is it really you?" Odysseus looks at his son and his face softens, making his way over to him. "Telemachus", he says, dropping his sword and lifting his son off the ground and into a tight hug. Telemachus' breath hitches and his eyes fill with tears as he hugs his father tightly, tears starting to stream down his face.
It's only now Telemachus notices y/n and suddenly his heart rate quickens. He'd always had a crush on her. He pulls away from his father and takes a step towards her. "A-are you alright", Telemachus gently asks, looking at her. He wants to reach and and hold her but he looks over at his father and doesn't know if he should. "Yes, I'm fine", y/n sighs, looking back at him. Odysseus watches the pair interact with a knowing smirk on his face, happy his son finally found a girl he liked. Telemachus lets out a breath and gives her another once over, checking for any more injuries. "Are you sure? I mean, you just killed a man" "Don't tell anyone" "Of course I won't", Telemachus said firmly. He would sooner die than tell someone and harm her reputation. "Thanks." "You don't have to thank me", Telemachus says, taking another step closer to her. Odysseus watches from the distance, the smirk on his face growing.
"Can I ask you something?" Telemachus suddenly asks, his cheeks slightly pink. "Sure". Telemachus was starting to get even more nervous, but he swallowed the lump in his throat. He knows he's putting himself out on a wire by doing this... but he has to know if she feels the same. "W-would you..." Telemachus' words fail him as he starts getting flustered, feeling his cheeks get hotter. Odysseus watches them and almost groans loudly. 'Just say it, idiot' he thought.  Telemachus' eyes glance over at his father, who simply nods at him and gives him a thumbs up. Telemachus sighs and rubs the back of his head before looking back at y/n, trying his hardest to form coherent words.
Telemachus opens his mouth to speak but closes it again. He does this a few more times, struggling to say what he wants/needs to say. He's about to give up until his father suddenly yells out, loudly saying " TELL HER!" Telemachus' head whips over at his father, giving him a dirty look. He blushes again, this time worse than before. He looks at y/n, seeing her looking at him with a confused look and he mentally slaps himself. 'You better say it NOW you idiot!' "Y/n... I... uhm...", Telemachus stutters, his heart practically beating out of his chest. His mind is going at a million miles a moment, thinking of the best way to say what he's wanted to say for YEARS. And suddenly, he just says the first thing that comes to his mind... "I LOVE YOU!!"
As soon as the words leave his mouth, Telemachus' eyes widen and he clamps his mouth shut. There's an awkward silence and Telemachus' face is extremely red now. In fact, he's surprised he's not passing out at this point. He glances over at Odysseus, who's looking at him like, 'Are. You. Kidding. Me.' Telemachus looks back at y/n, whose face is also quite beet red. She looked absolutely flabbergasted, and Telemachus' stomach dropped. He mentally slapped himself for just blurting it out like that. He was certain she didn't feel the same and probably thought he was pathetic, or even worse. "do you mean that?"
"I... I... y-yeah", Telemachus stutters out, looking at the ground and fiddling with his thumbs. He still can't look at her and he's scared of her reaction. Odysseus facepalmed, mumbling 'Gods, he's an idiot'. "Well...I think I love you too" And that was the final straw. Telemachus looks up with wide eyes and drops his jaw, staring at her. He almost thought he misheard her and wanted to pinch himself to see if this was all a vivid dream. Odysseus is smiling so wide, surprised his son's confession had a positive outcome. "You... you do?" Telemachus replies, practically choking on his words. He can already feel his heart race pick up, and he's certain it'll just burst at any given time. He can't believe out of everyone, she'd love him back, "yes". Telemachus gives a dumbfounded nod, trying to comprehend that the woman of his dreams felt the same way. He wanted to pinch himself again, to see if he was hallucinating. He rubs the back of his head again and lets out a nervous chuckle, his entire body feeling like jelly. "Are you... sure?", "of course I'm sure".
A goofy, love-struck grin grows on Telemachus' face as he takes a few steps toward her until there are just a few inches between them. "Can I... ask you something else?" "Yeah", Telemachus takes a deep breath, closing his eyes before asking what he wants. He opens them again, looking at her with a hopeful look. "Can I... kiss you?", "yes".
Telemachus didn't need to be told twice. He closed the distance between them in a flash and practically threw his arms around her waist, pulling her impossibly close. He lifted his hand and gently cupped her cheek before slowly leaning in and capturing her lips with his. His heart went into overdrive as he kissed her. Fireworks went off in his head as his mind went absolutely blank. He was completely and utterly smitten with her and absolutely nothing would change that now.

Headcanon Vol.2: Odysseus had unruly hair in his youth but grew out of it but Telemachus now has to deal with it and Ody helps his son and it all ends in a beautiful hurt/comfort moment
Not as good as my other headcanons for this fandom but I really do think about situations where Telemachus is just struggling to tidy his hair which is just going crazy all of the time and is about to give up when Odysseus strolls into the bathing area and notices his sons struggles.
Not wanting to embarrass him any further after the whole clothes stealing shenanigans, he simply nods in hello and does his thing with cleaning himself. When he's done, he notices that Telemachus is still not any closer to figuring out his hair so he comes over and mentions how he also had impossible-to-deal-with hair and age and growing it out (the added weight) helped with it's upkeep but he did have some tricks he learned to aid the issue.
So he tells his son about it who becomes completely enraptured in the story, not wanting to miss a single word his dad tells him. Telemachus asks for tips and Ody asks if it would be okay to show him and his son agrees.
Ody spends the next hour ir so explaining hair care for curly hair to his son, going over herb tinctures and oils he can use to make his hair submit to his will without damaging it as well as special brushes and movements that help with detangling and finally braids that help with the right curl forming overnight. It becomes a whole thing with them and even though Telemachus gets the hang of it very quickly, he keeps on asking his dad to do it for him and Ody is bever going to decline because quality time with his dearly missed son is everything to him.
So during their hair care moments, they talk about each others days, what they were going to do the day after and eventually, Ody feels confortable enough to confide in his son as well about his Odyssey (hehe) and they things he went through and had to do and Telemachus is then there for him, reassuring him and comforting him as well.
Eventually Telemachus does his dads hair as well so they can spend even more time together.
Penelope does know about this because of course Ody had to tell her all about how much he loves his son and how much he enjoys their new father son bonding moments, but one day, when she enters the bathing area earlier than usual, she sees the two of them and observes their little time together. She does not intervene because while she also loves her son deeply, she will allow her husband to have this time for himself to catch up on all of the lost time.
I also imagine their time together always ends with them touching foreheads (because I am a sucker for those between parents and their kids), hugging and Ody kissing his sons hair. They then always leave the baths together before Telemachus artives at his room first where they hug again and wish each other a restful night and then Ody leaves fir his own room and lies down beside his wife, talks with her just as long about their days and then they fall asleep in each others arms thoigh Odys head is 100% on Penelopes chest to hear her heartbeat because he has still trauma from Calypsos bullshit and needs it to convince himself that he is home.
He then sleeps, thinking about his family.
And now i've brough myself to tears yet again. 😭🩵
Also if anyone wants to write or draw something with this, you of course have my full permission. Just tag me please, I want to say thank you and admire your work 😭🙏🏻🩵

heard you have headcanons on ody and dio meeting again after he returns. how does that go? how does penelope feel?
Ooooo!!! Boy, do I have ideas [insert shakey turtle of excitement here]
So, it's a little bit complicated, and I don't want to give too much away since it relates to what I'm currently working on, BUT!
I GOT YOU, FAM!
Basically: after Diomedes gets kicked out of Argos (it's very sad, the poor man), he realizes he has nowhere else to go except literally anywhere but the Eastern Mediterranean. So, he sets off for Hesperia (aka modern Italy) to start a new life there. But in this time of heartbreak, he's missing Odysseus even more (they had a sad goodbye on Crete; it's a long story), and he decides to stop at Ithaca on the way to get some supplies and maybe visit Ody. But when he gets there, he finds that Ody is MIA and Penelope is running things. So he hangs out for a while and gets to know Pen and Telemachus (who is about 11 or 12 by this point), and quickly figures out why Ody would talk about her literally any chance he got. She's beautiful, yes, but she's also just as cunning and wise as Odysseus is... The same qualities Dio fell in love with. And Pen is curious about Dio, too. She's heard many stories and news about her husband's schemes with Dio, and she starts falling for him a bit, too. But Diomedes doesn't want to dishonor the Bro Code by getting with Penelope. Ody loves Penelope! Dio could never hurt Ody like that. So... He leaves. He says goodbye to Pen and Telemachus and heads off to Hesperia. He and Penelope wonder what could have been since they believe they will never see each other again.
BUT THEN ODY RETURNS TO ITHACA!!! YIPPEE!!! Diomedes hears this news, but he has his new city to run, so he doesn't return immediately. After a few years, though, he gets usurped and kicked out again, so he's like, "Welp. I have nowhere else to go," and he goes back to Ithaca. He and Ody reunite and there's hugs all around and it's really sweet. Dio soon finds that OdyPen had another kid, a daughter (I haven't figured out a name for her yet, but she's two when Dio shows up). This part of the story is very loose, but I do know they all put two and two together about all their feelings eventually (Odysseus is very happy about this as you can imagine lmao!) It's little slice of life stuff from there. A little hc I have about the three of them is that Dio teaches OdyPen's daughter how to box because she's a little firecracker and needs to get rid of excess energy somehow, but she can't stay still long enough to weave (plus she's really little and doesn't have the fine motor skills for that yet). Dio and Ody also work together to hone Telemachus's and Diodotus's skills (who Diodotus is... you'll know soon enough lmao). I also hc that Pen frequently tricks OdyDio into wrestling each other so she can watch for her own entertainment. She's just sitting to the side, eating her bowl of table grapes, enjoying the show okasdfhsdugif- I also hc that... Once OdyPen passes on, Diomedes leaves again. The kids don't want him to go, but he can't stay. He wants to honor Ody's wish for Tele to be king. If he stays, people will think he wants to take over. He doesn't want a war among Ody's people so... he leaves. He establishes one last city in Hesperia and feels his life coming to a close. He climbs a nearby cliff by the sea to enjoy the view, looking east. Then Athena shows up, and he accepts immortality. Sorry... Got sort of sad toward the end there, but that's a few things! I have a lot of thoughts, but I'm very scattered rn. If you have more specific questions, feel free to ask! I don't bite, I promise! :D

Welcome! Been waiting for your account! Meant to ask, Have you listened to the Ithaca saga yet? If so, are you still alive mentally?
I'm gonna be honest, I've asked if you guys want a Tumblr account from me BECAUSE I wanted to yap about the Ithaca Saga lol
@pomiidorii and I stayed up to watch the live, and it was SO much fun. I laughed so hard at the joystick infant, on Polyphemus with Luke being the Cyclops, Luck runs out with the macarena and the face slap, No longer you when Mason just decided to randomly dance with Jorge, or when Talya and Jay swapped roles during their songs. When they brought the ghost of Polites it was a great idea too, and LOL when Jay pointed at Luke during God Games for Zeus cheating on his wife, and his face completely dropped LMAO
But about the Ithaca Saga, I managed to not cry during it but it was really hard, considering the topics of families reuniting (or positive family dynamics) is one of the very few things that make me emotional. (Don't be fooled, I've cried after the live when I listened to the two last songs again...)
What I didn't expect was the vocals of Ayron in Hold them down, that was AMAZING. I fully thought I'd be skipping that song because I personally cannot handle the topic of SA very well in media, but the song itself was so good that I completely detached the meaning and now cannot stop singing it. During the animatic however, it was really hard to watch the part where Antinous sang about Penelope, it was truly sickening.
Odysseus was SO GOOD my jaw completely DROPPED. I LOVE when characters go completely apeshit after being wronged and (rightfully) take revenge (coming from an Ares devotee, this isn't that surprising). The appearance of Telemachus as the new Warrior of the mind?! And the way Ody just straight up refused to listen to any of the suitors, with his little sassy "No 🫶", I was SOLD.
Do NOT let me start about Anna completely SERVING vocals in The Challenge and Would you fall in love with me again, OH. MY. GOD. Her voice is such a beautiful mix of powerful and delicate, I don't get how she's doing it! And the part when Pen and Ody embrace and Just a man starts playing?? ARGHH!! Such an amazing use of literacy, Jorge has outdone himself.
Another little thing, the switch from Ody growling at the suitors and the second his boy asks for him, his voice softens to answer. STOP THIS MADNESS JORGE!! And when Mico and Jay hugged?? Oh my heart...
The interlude of Steven saying he couldn't come to Ithaca because of the beating he got LMAO and the singing in the shower LOL Neal Illustrator already made a great animatic with that part!
I cannot believe that EPIC is done now, it feels so weird. I remember randomly finding Jorge with the blue eye filter on TikTok and thinking, who is this weirdo? And immediately skipping him LMAO I had no idea that weirdo would come back months later with a full musical that I'd love so much! All in all, it was a great experience, even though I joined only around a month before the Vengeance Saga.

. "Carved it into the olive tree when we first met"
. "So i guess that makes him you"
. Their voices are so incredible
. Waiting, waiting......
The end, fin.

Ok I’ve been busy with family on Christmas but now I can rant about Ithaca saga song by song! Spoiler under the cut since some people might wanna avoid spoilers before the livestream :)
The Challenge: BEAUTIFUL. EXACTLY AS ID HOPED. ANNA SLAYED, I LOVE HER VOICE HOW SILKY MATURE IT IS!! AND THE BELT IN THE END?? AAAOOOUHHHH I HAVE ASCENDED!!! I also love how she’s all alone in the song, she doesn’t let us in on her plan, she doesn’t let us know the bow can only be strung by Odysseus, she talks to the suitors but never directly interacts with any. It really emphasizes how isolated she’s been all these years, without the only one she loves and matches her wit.
Hold them down: Absolute banger. I am a SUCKER for these call and response type songs especially when like the response changes a little to completely change the context of the call? DELICIOUS. This is why I love Antinuous’ songs. ITS SUCH A GOOD VILLAIN SONG ITS INTIMIDATING AND CATCHY AND ARYON’S VOCALS AHHHH I DIDNT EXPECT ANTINUOUS TO DIE RIGHT THERE
Odysseus: ODY FULLY SNAPPED. HSARDMK THE OPEN ARMS JORGE WHEN I FUCKING GET YOU JORGE- The way Odysseus’ name is chanted in the danger motif, the way you can hardly distinguish which parts are his cunning motif and which parts are the danger motif, because he is the danger now. This is what everything has been building up to, why Odysseus’ motif has the same notes as the danger motif. HE IS THE DANGER NOW. THE SUITORS POPPED OFF!! AND ATHENA’S MOTIF AND QUICK THOUGT SFX AHHHH SHES HELPING TELEMACHUS 😭😭😭😭 SHES NOW ABLE TO PERFECTLY COMPLIMENT HIS ABILITIES!!!!! I have some other predictions for the animatic of this — I BET ODYSSEUS IS GONNA BURN THE SUITORS ALIVE. That’s the really dark thing Jorge warned us about, that’s why the suitors were screaming in the end, and it fits the NLY official animatic where it looks like a crowd being burned by fire. “Covered in red” the red isn’t just blood but fire.
Ichbw: mico and Jorge absolutely COOOOOKED the EMOTION, THEY SOUND AMAZING, and their HARMONIZING WAS BEAUTIFUL CONSIDERING THIS SHOW HAVING ESTABLISHED HARMONIZING AS A WAY TO SHOW CLOSENESS!!! Ok. With that out of the way. I. *deep breath AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FUCK I wanna make a separate post for this song, because HHHNNNNN ODYSSEUS ATHENA 😭😭😭 look, I’m coping really hard, trust me they hugged in the pause before ody starts singing. They can still work this out post canon guys trust—
WYFILWMA: everything I wanted and more. I LOVE Jorge belting the second chorus instead of the soft falsetto of the first. The Ruthlessness -> thunderbringer -> NSFLY motifs when he talked about his experiences?? PENELOPE USING THE WEDDING BED TO PROVE TO ODYSSEUS THAT HES STILL HIM, INSTEAD OF LIKE THE OG WHERE IT WAS JUST A TEST??? YOU SMART BASTARD. THE JUSY A MAN REPRISE I ASCENDED AND THEIR HARMONIZING AGAIN!!!! PENELOPE’S INTENSITY, HER RESOLVE IN TELLING ODYSSEUS THAT HE WAS STILL HIM “I GUESS THAT MAKES HIM YOU” I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THEH DESERVE EACH OTHER AHHHHHH THEY AGAIN SOUNDED SPECTACULAR!
All in all, I have been emotionally devastated in more ways than one. I will be making separate posts to rant about ICHBW and another animatic live stream-specific bingo bc my old bingo was SOO OFF LMFAO

So! I've been listening to the Ithaca Saga like a madwoman. And I have thoughts.
I am no musician, I am no classicist. I am merely a gremlin with suspected ADHD and so many feelings about the finale to this musical.
Firstly, Anna Lea's voice is angelic. Ma'am, who was your vocal coach?! I WILL be belting to The Challenge until the end of my days, no one can stop me!
Penelope is just... Amazing. She's dedicated to her husband, and so cunning in delaying her remarriage as long as possible. If that ain't love, I dunno what is!
Ayron Alexander did such a good job, his voice is smooth like butter! And his acting is a thing of beauty!
That being said, Antinous deserved all of what he got. I would have gone to jail if I ever did the things I was ready to do to Antinous. It's a testament to the acting that I wanted to commit war crimes on him, though.
Hold Them Down was amazing in terms of vocals. Subject matter(namely the plot to SA Penelope) is a bit iffy, but I still enjoyed the song. Good tune. And also Antinous getting interrupted by an arrow to the neck, as he deserves!
Odysseus had me with goosebumps, people! The opening was amazing, and the sounds of the arrows flying and hitting suitors?! Especially that moment where Ody is doing a rapid fire at folks?! Jalapeño Man cooked, and gave us a Michelin Star Gourmet Meal!
Open Arms reference. Buddy immediately became a kebab for daring to use the Polites Method. The fools.
Telemachus trying to fight back, and being used as a hostage against his father? Oh, the suitors made a mistake, and it went horribly!
Jorge, the growling!!! That bridge, the way Odysseus genuinely sounded like a feral beast, he was going full Papa Bear, and ready to maul everyone who dared hurt his family!
The screams! Oh, the screams as Ody massacred every single suitor that dared to invade his palace!
Telemachus and Odysseus reuniting!
ATHENA!!! ATHENA IS HERE!!!
I loved the soft moment she and Odysseus had, talking about a gentler world! It makes it feel... Like a full circle moment. Kinda like Eliza gasping at the end of WLWDWTYS in Hamilton. It's that feeling that one of them knows the audience is there, trying to inspire the hope of that kinder world.
ODYSSEUS AND PENELOPE REUNION WHDBDHANWKXDPSIFBEHA *melts into a puddle*
This. WYFILWMA was the song that had me misty-eyed. ICHBW is a close second. To finally see Odysseus, after all the pain and suffering and struggle he went through, finally get home and hug his son and wife! Finally be home, finally get the one thing he wanted!
The olive tree bed! They included that! I'm no classicist, but I know about Penelope testing Odysseus with their wedding bed! JORGE INCLUDED IT!! And Odysseus having a little rant about the bed when Penelope tells him to move it!
The sheer joy in Penelope's voice as she sings "Only my husband would know that, so I guess it's really you!" She's so happy to finally have the love of her life back, and it brings me to tears every damn time!
I imagine during that instrumental reprise of Just A Man, Odysseus and Penelope are kissing. They're kissing with the passion only twenty years kept apart can create, and crying as they soak each other in for the first time in those twenty years. They've missed each other so much, and released every last ounce of love they couldn't express while apart in that moment.
TL; DR Jorge Rivera-Herrans, the man you are! Cooked, and the meal was worth the entire cast's weight in gold. This saga, and the whole musical, will be the only thing in my headphones for the next week, and will be getting played at least once daily afterwards.
I only got into Epic between the original Cyclops Saga and the Ocean Saga. I have not been here since the demos and the open auditions, like some fans. My love started by stumbling across Warrior of the Mind on TikTok. My list of Epic songs started with just Warrior of the Mind and My Goodbye, then eventually expanded to every song in this musical. And yet I still have enjoyed every last second of the process I was able to witness. I have laughed, I have cried. This musical has become one of, if not my favourite musical ever. My favourite music ever. I can't stop listening to it. Rarely do I see an Epic song while playing other music, and skip it when it comes. This will continue to be one of my comforts for a very long time. Of that, I'm certain.
I wish all the best to the Epic team. All of them. For their success, for their health, for everything good to come their way. They deserve it for all the hard work and dedication that went into this beautiful project. I hope we get to see it either on stage or on screen someday. Until then, I will happily watch animatics from the amazing and dedicated artists. And maybe I'll experiment a bit with my own? Who knows!

Odyssey notes I took while reading the odyssey since I finished it!:
Imagine surviving the sea, monsters, and curses, and how you die is by breaking your neck LMAO. I guess that’s the nicest way to die compared to the others I guess 💀
Odysseus seeing his mom in the underworld nearly brought me to TEARS HE COULDNT HUG HER AUGHHUFHFHFJHFJ
Dang Scylla is pretty terrifying. Poor Odysseus, couldn’t save his men :c
Can the men listen to Odysseus, for FIVE SECONDS
he probably needed that sleep so bad.
Also those mfs just left him 💀
POSEIDON NEEDS TO COOL HIS TITS!!! HIS GRUDGE AGAINST ODYSSEUS IS GETTING OLD!!!! Bro was gone for like, 17-20 years and he lost everyone, almost died, and was prisoner to Calypso for 7 years. Leave him alone dawg
The freaking fact that Odysseus couldn’t recognize Ithaca and just assumed that he was on an island of monsters or somethin makes me so sad bruh. He’s been through so much that he just can’t accept that he’s back home. Even when Athena herself telling him he’s home he JUST can’t believe it. This man needs so much therapy omg
How did homie come up with that elaborate backstory under his disguise??? Why is Odysseus so extra???
Also that fake backstory kinda paralleled his own. Very loosely but it’s neat.
I bet it was so hard not to sob right in front of Telemachus as soon as he saw him. Odysseus was using all his strength to fight against the tears.
Also Odysseus and Telemachus reuniting also nearly brought me to tears. I am not ok
“On hearing this Telemachus smiled to his father, but so that Eumaeus could not see him.” PLEASE I LOVE THEM SO MUCH AKSHDKSBSKSBSK
“Penelope came out of her room looking like Diana or Venus, and wept as she flung her arms around her son. She kissed his forehead and both his beautiful eyes, “Light of my eyes,” she cried as she spoke fondly to him” 🥺🥺🥺🥺 this is making me touch starved lmao. Oh to have everyone kiss my head and shoulders when I return home. Also love seeing momma Penelope
Penelope 🤝 Odysseus
Crying a lot
“As soon as he saw Odysseus standing there, he dropped his ears and wagged his tail, but he could not get close up to his master. When Odysseus saw the dog on the other side of the yard, he dashed a tear from his eyes without Eymaeus seeing it…” WHAT IF I CRIIIIIIIIIEEEEED 😭😭😭😭 HIS DOGGO
NOOOO ARGOS!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭 he died as soon as he saw Odysseus. He was able to see him one last time. I am unwell
“As she spoke Telemachus sneezed so loudly that the whole house resounded with it” THAT IS THE MOST RANDIM THING TO ADD IN THERE HSKDBSKSBSK. It’s so cute tho 😭😭😭 oh Telemachus you’re Adorable. And his momma laughed. Aww.
Nvm Telemachus’s sneeze was apparently an omen that the suitors will die lmao. This story just has things Happen
Telemachus: *sneezes*
Penelope: this is a sign that the suitors will die
Eymaeus: what
Odysseus has THUNDER THIGHS
“This was what she said, and Odysseus was glad when he heard her trying to get presents out of the suitors, and flattering them with fair words which he knew she did not mean.” HE LOVES HIS WIFE!!!!
“…I believe the light had not been coming from the torches, but from his own head—for his hair is all gone, every bit of it.”
Did this mf just make a bald joke 💀
Me and my homies hate the maids and suitors
Also Penelope rocks. Deceiving everyone cuz she doesn’t want to get married to those douche bags. Pop off queen. Poor lady, forced to get married :((
Odysseus trying not to cry upon talking to his wife after years 😭😭😭 that dude is TOUGH
Odysseus: oh yeah, I met Odysseus. He was wearing fancy clothes and was hot af.
Odysseus is trying so hard to convince Penelope that he’s coming home. Ough… sweet man
Ok so Odysseus was officially gone for 20 years. Ok Coolio. Yikes
Bro went on a huge tangent about the boar. It’s neat to hear about but sheesh.
Penelope had a dream that explicitly told her that Odysseus was coming home to kill the suitors and she’s like “can you interpret it for me?” I assume she’s trying to mess with Odysseus, cuz even tho he’s in disguise, she’s sensing something with him.
Oh she knows Odysseus is somewhere. Why is she setting up a tournament that only Odysseus could do now?? She knows…. She knows….
Book XX: Odysseus cannot sleep. What else is new?
Odysseus’s name meaning anger is starting to make sense now that he’s home and wanting to murder people out of anger. I guess the fact that he pisses everyone off to is also an indicator of that 💀
Oh the Odysseus and Penelope parallel augh
Odysseus is just brooding all the time huh
I like the idea that Telemachus is very timid and soft spoken. Everytime he speaks against the suitors they’re always surprised; now that he’s older with Athena and his father by his side, he’s beginning to break out of this shell and become more bold. It’s neat for his character. wonder how he’d feel about himself compared to his lion-hearted father
Telemachus is sooo cuuuuute he tried to do that trial for his momma… he was so excited too. My son
Love how Odysseus is absolutely JACKED. Just super strong. An absolute tank. Love him
“Eurymachus,” Penelope answered, “people who persist in eating up the estate of a great chieftain and dishonoring his house must not expect others to think well of them.” EAT EM UP PENELOPE!
I FREAKING LOVE THE ARROW SCENE. GO ODYSSEUS GO
I guess people in Ancient Greek times just killed each other without any thought lmao. I have a feeling that it’s less about the law and more about the revenge that would fall upon you if you killed someone. It was satisfying to read the suitors and maids die tho. Heck yeah
Athena is a great wing man. Just making Ody hot and godlike
Love Penelope testing Odysseus to make sure it was him. Very good. She’s a very cunning women indeed
OUGHHHH THEYRE HUGGING HDBSBSKSBSKSBSKSBSSKSBKWKW 😭😭😭😭
Gosh. The love and chemistry between Odysseus and Penelope is so strong, even tho they’re barely together in the story. Like, it’s interesting to hear how much love they poured into each other that night, (especially compared to Circe and Calypso. Odysseus clearly did not love them.) and then they talked and explained their times away from each other. Augh they’re so in love 😭😭😭
Odysseus just tell your father that you’re home why are you LIKE THIS
WHY ARE YOU MAKING UP ANOTHER ELABORATE BACKSTORY JUST TELL HIM WHO YOU ARE
Dang, that was an abrupt ending. But why did Athena like… tell Odysseus’s father to kill the guy and then told them not to kill each other lmao. Idk. But overall yay. Interesting how Odysseus didn’t listen at first. I think he’s truly changed since his adventure
Something I noticed was that Odysseus was probably a very happy and joyful man. He had family and friends, a wife and a newborn son. He treated everyone fairly and with kindness and everyone adored him for it. But after his adventure, he seemed far more somber and angry. Sad change of character, but ultimately he didn’t change too much. I love him. I enjoyed that WAAYYYY more than I thought I would. Sure the writing was different than what I was used to—there was so much yapping and tangents and metaphors—but it wasn’t impossible to follow! I’ve read difficult stories from Shakespeare to scriptures and this was an overall easy read. The culture of Ancient Greece is very…. Strange to me, but it’s always neat to see differences in cultures, no matter how uncomfy it makes me feel. Love how both Odysseus and Penelope remained faithful to each other and cried over each other a lot. They got married for a reason <3 and Telemachus my son. He’s so precious. Good good story I enjoyed that a lot

odypen blurb
Penelope caught herself looking at her reflection once again. She couldnt help it. Her flaws jumped out at her. Her hand subconsciously pushed on her stomach. Jeez, I know I recently birth, but when did I get so-
“There’s my beautiful wife.” Odysseus walked in. He instinctively looked for their son. He found baby Telemachus already asleep in his crib. He smiled warmly. Penelope looked everywhere but the mirror, trying to recover her composure. She swallowed hard.
Odysseus sighed. “Im going to have a serious problem when that boy grows up and has me wrapped around his finger,” he chuckled. He came up behind his love and wrapped his arms around her. “Dearest, whats wrong?”
“N-nothing. Im fine. We should get to bed-“ Penelope lied. She tried to turn and walk towards their bed, but Odysseus spun her around, so they were facing each other.
Penelope, much like her husband, was a good liar. Not many people knew that, but Odysseus did. He knew when she wasn’t really trying to hide something. He searched her eyes, hoping to find what ever was bothering her. They were always so in sync, and it pained him not knowing what was on her mind.
“Pen… you know you know you can tell me anything.” Odysseus caressed her cheek. Penelope relished in his touch. Her eyes fluttered closed. Her lip quivered, and she pulled away, furiously wiping away her tears.
“Im fine. Im fine. Im stronger than this.” She blinked rapidly and turned away. “Im a spartan, for Zeus sake-“ she covered her face with her hands. “- get it together.” She mumbled to herself. Her emotions have been driving her mad these past few weeks.
Odysseus could see the layers of emotions peel away. He approached her gently. “No one is doubting your strength, my queen.” He spoke softly. “You are a new mother, and in many ways, more vulnerable; but that does not make you weak.” He pulled her hands away from her face and locked their fingers together.
Penelope blinked back emotions and tears. She let out a dry laugh, “you always know exactly what I need to hear.” She collapsed into his embrace and cried freely. Almost like she was waiting for permission, Penelope lets all her insecurities out.
The couple laid down, and cuddled late into the night. After a lot of comfort and hugs, Penelope dozed off. And in the morning, maybe not all her insecurities magically melted away, but she did feel better.

GALLERY A
Please choose the painting that you wish to write for. All are personally handpicked by me, has different stories and theories and are different visually (obviously).
The lover by Rene Magritte - The masterpiece that was painted on the canvas in 1928, beautifully captures the essence of any typical relationship. We come across a couple, with hidden faces. Even with their hidden faces, Magritte claims that ‘nothing is concealed in the painting’. Both of the individuals are embracing each other’s presence in their life. Taken by @moonctzeny
Dance on the country by Pierre-Auguste Renoir - Celebrating the love between a man and a woman, this painting appears to be a joyous reflection of them. Both figures appear too different from each other, yet choose to be together. Impression style is used to draw the intimacy between two people. Taken by @yutasgalaxy
The Honeysuckle Bower by Peter Paul Rubens - A gentle touch of their hands portrays intimacy and warmth. The painter deserves appreciation for his ability to use brilliant skills to paint dramatic and high-class clothing. The dressing plays a crucial role in letting us know that the couple is a high society couple. It also has the theme of gender and love. While the man hardly smiles, his wife seems cheerful and happy, implying the different approaches towards the love between the two genders.
The Jewish Bride by Rembrandt - Both of the subjects are dressed richly. A beautiful portrayal of emotions can be noticed in the painting. While both of them are physically close, they do not look into each other’s eyes. We see them lost alone at the moment. They are so mesmerized by their intimacy that they even forget to look at each other. Almost nothing can move them. Taken by @prettyjaems
La Surprise by Antoine Watteau - The lady is carefree and submits herself completely to the arms of her lover. Both of them embrace each other while kissing. However, the third figure is not so much in love. He is holding his guitar. Even though he is trying to play the guitar, his focus is on the passionate couple. On the other hand, a couple is unaware and carefree of his presence. They just can’t notice him playing guitar. The guy sitting alone realizes that even his music can’t reach the lovers’ ears. He is there with his tunes alone.
The Kiss Gustave by Klimt - Intimacy is shown by the way the individuals are locked with each other. The resemblance seems spiritual. A man kisses the woman’s cheek, she shies away.  The romantic painting is still present in Vienna’s Museum. With thousands of admirers flocking every year, its fame only increases. The painting doesn’t let us see the face of the dominant man but gives the spotlight completely to that of the lady. They embrace each other as if they have seized. Their embrace seems to have become eternal. Taken by @bl--ankhaeji
The Birthday by Mark Chagall - This was the painting that he painted just before their marriage and thus holds a significant value in his life. This sets out to be a wonderful self-portrait of the artist and his lover, Bella. While Bella is given full spotlight, an artist himself doesn’t really show much of himself. We can reflect on his love for his muse and how much she mattered in his life through the stage sharing in the painting.
Self-portrait as a Tehuana by Frida Kahlo - The positioning of Diego at the forehead of Frida is vital. Frida does this to depict how she can only think of her lover and ex-husband. He was a womanizer and didn’t ever commit to their marriage. Even after getting cheated on, her love for Diego didn’t reduce at all. She has painted a spider web around her head probably to signify that only Diego resides inside her body and mind. The use of Tehuana, a traditional dress worn by her in the portrait, contrasts with her emotional state. Despite her sadness, she produces various romantic paintings that earned her reputation among admirers and also critics. Taken by @jeontaeil
Le Printemps (Springtime) by Pierre Auguste Cot - It captures young love and its beauty. Young lady’s hands are wrapped around her lover’s neck, while he admires her pretty face. Her white dress signifies the purity of love. It is also the depiction of love itself is the most spiritual experience. The most unique feature of the painting can be the sunlight falling behind the couple. It is painted beautifully and is almost unreal. Taken by @alreadyblondenow
A Romance by Santiago Rusignal - This portrait shows a woman playing the piano while a man stands by her. The painting can be seen as a simple one with its domesticated setting. The woman is lost in the moment as she plays the piano while the man is lost as he listens to her tunes. Both have a calm and also composed face which shows a very relaxed environment. The love between them is music. His paintings are so moving that we can even imagine the music in a painting.
The Farewell of Telemachus and Eucharis by Jacques Louis David - Telemachus keeps his hand on the thigh of Eucharis, while she hugs him with sadness on her face. Telemachus is the son of Odysseus, who loves Eucharis. Both are passionate lovers. However, Telemachus has to leave the comfort of his town and lover to fulfill the responsibility of being a son. He has to go on a search for his missing father. Colors are used to draw the contrast element. The red and blue dresses strike majorly with the flesh colors of the subjects. The sad but passionate romance makes us love the artistic skills of Jacques. Taken by @yutahoes

Bacchanal: Last Light Pt. 54
“We can find him, Lance.” Arro took Lance’s hand. “You can find him.”
Lance looked back at Arro. Sincere, encouraging Arro. He settled on the floor with a deep, steadying breath. He closed his eyes then groaned when nothing happened. He looked up at Arro almost pleadingly.
“I’ve never really used them like this before. Can you guide me?”
“I’m here for you, though I don’t think you need me much anymore.” He dropped to the floor, taking Lance’s hands. “Focus on him. Picture P.K. in your mind.”
Lance squeezed his eyes shut, his face scrunched in concentration.
“Don’t tense up.” Arro chuckled. “I know you’re worried but you’re not pooping, you’re looking for someone.”
“Don’t laugh at me!” Lance snapped as Yuri laughed nervously.
“Sorry,” Yuri coughed. “It’s a serious moment and then Arro says pooping.”
“Grow up,” Lance grumbled. He relaxed and brought up a memory of his brother’s face.
“There we go,” Arro rubbed circles against Lance’s hand with a thumb. “Where is he?”
Lance opened his eyes and looked around the living room. But he didn’t see the living room, instead, he saw P.K. in a forest clearing. He sat at the feet of a man in tight leopard print pants, gingerly rubbing the black and blue handprints on P.K.’s neck.
“He’s… in a forest,” Lance said. “Like a party. A bunch of people are dancing and drinking. He’s hurt.” There was so much pain in that one word, that Arro instantly dropped his hand and hugged him, not that Lance seemed to notice.
“Is he still near Boston?” Yuri asked. “There’s a lot of forests here.”
Lance looked around and a familiar skyline came into view.
“He’s at Walden Pond.”
The three of them stared at the closed gate to the park from inside the car.
“Let’s go.” Arro got out and placed his hands on the car. The paint shimmered, then the car vanished from sight. “We can walk the rest of the way.”
“What did you- ” Lance nodded, clearly impressed. “Nice trick.”
“I haven’t been here in forever,” Yuri said as he locked the car, it’s lights flashing around empty space. “We’d come here on school trips to see Thoreau’s cabin.”
They ducked under the gate and made their way along the road.
“Speak for yourself. Field trips were not a normal thing in the Knighton household,” Lance said.
“No, they weren’t a normal thing for Lance,” Yuri said. “P.K. has been on lots of field trips.”
“That’s because he’s a nerd.” Lance shrugged. “I’ll be counting on you, Yuri.”
Yuri nodded. “He’s my family, too, you know. I’ll do what I can.” He looked around at the oddly peaceful forest. “Weird place for a rager.”
“Rager?” Arro asked. “Crazy party.”
It wasn’t hard to find said rager. The sound reached them before they stumbled into a clearing.
“This is the textbook definition of a rager.” Yuri stared open-mouthed at the dancing crowd. “What the hell is this?”
“Molly probably,” Lance grumbled. “Not the kind of thing P.K. should see.”
“There he is!” Yuri pointed at a raised stage. P.K. sat at the foot of what seemed to be a throne. The man sprawled in the throne gestured at the newcomers and P.K. turned slowly to them
“P.K.!” Lance shoved through the crowd. “P.K., it’s me! I’m here!”
P.K. stared at him for a moment, then turned to the enthroned man. The man nodded, smiling encouragingly, and P.K. finally jumped down to meet his brother.
“Lance!” P.K. waved. His voice was almost normal, only a little hoarse. “You found me! I had to be sure it was you!”
P.K. launched himself into Lance’s arms. Lance held him so tight he had to shove him away. For a moment fear passed over his face, but when he saw how confused and worried Lance looked, he relaxed. “Come on, you have to meet the guy who saved me!”
“Saved you?” Lance let P.K. drag him back to the stage with Arro and Yuri in tow. “We saved you!”
“No, you didn’t.” P.K. laughed. “You didn’t take me from a cave guarded by a cyclops and two insane gods.”
“I did that, thank you.” The most beautiful man Lance, Arro, and Yuri had ever seen lounged in the throne. He wore only a pair of tight, leopard print pants. His dark, curly hair cascaded across his shoulders but his eyes caught Arro’s attention. There was no visible iris, just solid gold from corner to corner. Like the statutes of the gods in Apura. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Lance.”
Lance covered P.K.’s eyes. “Put that away.”
“God, Lance, calm down.” P.K. shoved his brother’s hands away. “Dionysus is fine! He’s nice.”
“Dionysus? Are you high, too?”
The beautiful man threw his head back with laughter. “What do you think, Yuri? Am I Dionysus?”
Lance and Arro turned to Yuri, who nodded. “After everything I’ve seen lately, I completely believe that.”
“Who is Dionysus?” Arro sighed.
“An ancient god of wine and fertility,” Yuri explained.
“And parties. And rebirth.” Dionysus counted the phrases off on his fingers. “But right now, I’m this delightful boy’s rescuer.” He gestured at P.K. “My brother was- is- angry at you. I’d say ‘watch out’ but Ares is always angry and he’s a fool.”
“Stop with the weird names!” Arro grumbled. “Who took P.K.?
Dionysus turned his wine-dark eyes to Arro. “Someone determined to keep you from your mission, Traveler.”
Arro clenched his jaw. “Do you work against them?”
“I work against no one.” Dionysus clapped his hands and the party-goers dropped like rag-dolls, save for one man who stayed awake by the refreshment table. “I don’t really work for them either, though.”
“Did you… did you kill them?” P.K. gasped.
“No, kiddo, they aren’t dead. Just sleeping,” Dionysus said. “Put simply, Arro, I rescued P.K. because I wanted to. I do not appreciate taking hostages. Apollo said you would come and I put my faith in my brother.” He smiled fondly. “So many long years; he hasn’t disappointed me yet. I think you understand that, Lance.”
Lance glanced back at P.K. and nodded. “I do.”
“Can you give us anything to go off of?” Arro asked. “You must know why I’m here.”
“I do.” Dionysus fell quiet for a moment. “I can’t help you much more than this, though. It’s one thing to steal a toy from one of my brothers, it's another to give out family secrets. You need the Sphinx. Find her where she waits, Traveler. She has the answers you seek.”
“Wait, like the one in Egypt? I thought you were Greek?” Lance got the distinct feeling they were being played with.
Dionysus looked him up and down. “You really do look like her, you know? I adored Pyrrha once upon a time and sought to please her. You are nothing like her, yet eerily similar.” He leaned over and took Lance’s chin in his hand, pulling him closer. “Perhaps I can have the fun with you I could not with her?”
“Perhaps not!” Arro knocked his hand away.
Dionysus laughed, stood, and the throne vanished. “This isn’t goodbye, kiddo. I’ll see you around.”
P.K. threw his skinny arms around Dionysus’s chest. “Thank you.”
“My pleasure.” Dionysus ruffled P.K.’s hair. “Don’t forget to say bye to Telemachus.”
P.K. hurried over to the man still standing at the drinks table. “Bye, Cyclops.” he hugged the ruggedly handsome man. “I hope I see you again.”
“I’d like that, Brat.” Telemachus laughed. “Be careful.”
“No promises but I’ll try.” P.K. smiled.
“Telemachus?” Yuri gasped. “Wait, we can’t leave! He’s Odysseus’s son! I have to ask him-”
Telemachus just waved before he and Dionysus disappeared.
“Damn it!” Yuri huffed. “We better see him again.”
Lance, almost pouting, stared at the spot they vanished from. “He ignored my question…”
Yuri smiled suddenly. “He doesn’t have to answer,” he said. “She’s in Thebes.”
